The Arc of Human LifeCooperationAfter all, cooperation forged our need for language and social understanding, driving the development of the human brain. It is no coincidence that today, nation-states are primarily divided along linguistic lines. Organization is the KeyRight from the start, since we were hunting and gathering in tribes, human cooperation is the backbone of our success. Which is why eventually, nomadic tribes settled, forming agrarian societies and paving the way for city-states. Inevitably, through conflict, alliances are forged and broken, and industrialization brings railways that connect cities and resource-rich hinterlands into nation- states. Lesson's Learned in BloodNaturally, nation-states warred, some small, some large. Two wars were great enough, killed enough people, cost enough resources, to propel a continent up the ladder of human organization to the next level. Beyond the Nation-stateEnter the European Union, the first continental-state, the logical and inevitable next step in human organization. It's example is already being reproduced in all corners of the world, with the Association of SouthEast Asian Nations, the African Union, Gulf Cooperation Council, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, and the Union of South American Nations. Bearing WitnessThis website serves as an observer and advocate of these fleding organizations, moving the lot of our species towards unity, and the fulfillment of the promise of humanity. |
